"What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?"
Frederick Douglass, 5 July 1852
America is false to the past, false to the present, and solemnly binds herself to be false to the future.
Your celebration is a sham; your boasted liberty, an unholy license; your national greatness, swelling vanity; your sounds of rejoicing are empty and heartless; your denunciations of tyrants, brass fronted impudence; your shouts of liberty and equality, hollow mockery; your prayers and hymns, your sermons and thanksgivings, with all your religious parade, and solemnity, are, to him, mere bombast, fraud, deception, impiety, and hypocrisy - a thin veil to cover up crimes which would disgrace a nation of savages.
Go where you may, search where you will, roam through all the monarchies and despotisms of the old world, travel through South America, search out every abuse, and when you have found the last, lay your facts by the side of the everyday practices of this nation, and you will say with me, that, for revolting barbarity and shameless hypocrisy, America reigns without a rival...

US zionist imperialism has been waging war against IRAN for decades, most notoriously its 1953 Operation code-name: TP-AJAX

Digest CONTEXT: US ‘GWOT” (WW3) to salvage US finance capitalism’s growing crisis: failing “strategy chaos”, playing long-held Trump card drastic ‘solutions’. USNATO war deliberately destroyed the Syrian nation that it couldn’t defeat, plans to “BREAK IT UP”, as ISIS attacks Iran, another non-compliant sovereign nation. Iran immediately and publicly exposed ISIS as made-in-usa. As did Putin, who launched a successful air bombing campaign against US-ISIS forces, seriously weakening its terror proxy, exposing its backers, and strengthening Syria to defeat the #1 world-enemy’s war.

ISIS Hits Iran Terror Comes to the Islamic Republic
 7/4/17 https://www.foreignaffairs.com/articles/iran/2017-07-04/isis-hits-iran?c...
After three years of trying to strike Iran, the Islamic State (ISIS) finally succeeded in June . The group attacked two highly symbolic and secure targets near Tehran: the Iranian parliament and the mausoleum of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic https://www.brookings.edu/blog/markaz/2017/06/09/isis-attacks-iran-and-a...
.....the arrival of ISIS violence inside Iran is deeply unsettling for a regime that has trumpeted its internal stability as evidence of its wise governance and as an implicit admonition against a revival of opposition activism. With their near simultaneous timing and access to two obvious targets, the attacks exposed glaring vulnerabilities in Iran’s internal security. That the five attackers were Iranian citizens, recruited by ISIS, only sharpens the blow and heightens the sense of foreboding.
For Iran’s leadership, the attacks against such conspicuous symbols of the post-revolutionary order will reinforce the perception that the primary purpose of the attacks was not merely to sow insecurity and terrorize civilians, but rather to undermine and even overthrow the regime....

War with Iran is probably our best option

...Does this mean our only option is war? Yes, although an air campaign targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure would entail less need for boots on the ground than the war Obama is waging against the Islamic State, which poses far smaller a threat than Iran does..Yes, there are risks to military action. But Iran’s nuclear program and vaunting ambitions have made the world a more dangerous place. Its achievement of a bomb would magnify that danger many fold. Alas, sanctions and deals will not prevent this....

Big-name US liberal academic activists include critically important history

We do not believe the United States needs regime change in Tehran to improve relations with Iran.  The US needs to pursue smart diplomacy with the Islamic Republic’s current political structure—diplomacy which treats the Islamic Republic as Iran’s legitimate government, seeking to defend and enhance Iran’s legitimate interests.  This is something no U.S. President since 1979...has tried to do.

Trump to Pope Francis: 'ISIS wants to get you'
8/20/15 http://www.businessinsider.com/donald-trump-pope-francis-isis-2015-8
..."I'm gonna have to scare the pope because it's the only thing. Look: The pope, I hope, can only be scared by God. But the truth is, if you look at what's going on, they better hope capitalism works because it's the only thing we have right now... a great thing when it works properly...In our country ...it has not been working properly,
2/18/16 http://www.breitbart.com/video/2016/02/18/trump-to-pope-when-isis-attack...
“If and when the Vatican is attacked by ISIS, which as everyone knows, is ISIS’ ultimate trophy, I can promise you the Pope would have only wished and prayed Donald Trump would have been president, because, it’s true , it’s true this would not have happened because ISIS would have been eradicated.” Trump, rally in Kiawah, SC,

“Military men are just dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns in foreign policy.”

“...Potentially the most dangerous scenario would be an 'anti-hegemonic' coalition united not by ideology but by complementary grievances...a grand coalition of China,Russia, perhaps Iran...reminiscent in scale and scope of the challenge posed by the Sino-Soviet bloc, though this time, China would likely be the leader and Russia the follower.Averting this contingency...will require US geostrategic skill on the western, eastern, and southern perimeters of Eurasia simultaneously.’

‘The war after ISIS’: has Trump opened the door to conflict with Iran?

...Trump has portrayed Iranian influence as a global threat on a par with Isis and al-Qaida. When Tehran suffered a terrorism attack on 7 June, he said in a White House statement “We underscore that states that sponsor terrorism risk falling victim to the evil they promote”...secretary of state Rex Tillerson told the Senate last week the US would “work toward support of those elements inside Iran that would lead to a peaceful transition”....
to Iranian ears that sounded like...Bush era regime change..or..the1953 CIA-engineered coup ...Jennifer Cafarella, expert on the conflict at the Institute for the Study of War , said: “The larger picture here is the war after ISIS to dominate the security sphere... Iran is already preparing for that next phase and begun taking steps to win that next phase. The US is still fixated on ISIS ...”
A US decision to open a new counter-ISIS front outpost in the south-east Syrian desert at al-Tanf, is a challenge to Iranian aspirations for an east-west corridor from Tehran to Damascus to Lebanon that would run through al-Tanf.
“It looks as if the Iranians, Assad, and Iranian-mobilised Iraqi militias have made a determination not to allow the US to gain more territory in the Syrian desert,” said Nicholas Heras, a regional expert at the Centre for a New American Security.

“why America should not rush to take on these thugs”
The so-called Islamic State...ISIS, is not just a collection of barbaric psychopaths engaging in the most brutal and sordid forms of violence without hesitation born of normal human morality. They are also the most irreparably stupid jihadists ever to slaughter their way onto the international stage. And therein lie not only the seeds of their ultimate destruction, but why America should not rush to take on these thugs. It needs to wait and see how successful ISIS’s many other enemies are in attacking it....

Contrary to US strategic communications narratives and political wetdreams, the Iranian movement and US embassy takeover was led by revolutionary communist youth with other anti-imperialists
*"Documents From the US Espionage Den"
400 Pages of Still-Classified CIA and State Dept Documents Seized From US Embassy in Tehran
Acrobat/PDF files Part One (88 pages | 7.7 meg) Part Two (88 pages | 7.8 meg) Part Three (84 pages | 8.6 meg) Part Four (70 pages | 7 meg) Part Five (70 pages | 6 meg)Steven Aftergood of the Project on Government Secrecy (part of the Federation of American Scientists) gave an excellent introduction to these publications in 1997:
Many people recall that when Iranian revolutionaries seized the U.S. embassy in Teheran in 1979, they acquired a large cache of classified U.S. government documents shredded and painstakingly reassembled, which they proceeded to publish. What no one noticed it seems, is that they never stopped publishing! By 1995, 77 volumes of "Documents from the U.S. Espionage Den" (Asnad-i lanih-'i Jasusi) had been collected and published
In a frequently referenced 1987 article on the subject, Edward Jay Epstein wrote:
...Iranian students seized an entire archive of CIA and State Department documents...one of the most extensive losses of secret data in the history of any modern intelligence service. Even though many were shredded into tiny strips they managed to piece them back together. They were then published in 1982 in 54 volumes under the title "Documents From the U.S. Espionage Den", and sold in the United States for $246.50. As the Teheran Embassy evidently served as a regional base for the CIA, The scope of this captures intelligence goes well beyond intelligence reports on Iran alone. They cover the Soviet Union, Turkey, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iraq. There are also secret analysis of arcane subjects ranging from the effectiveness of Israeli intelligence to Soviet oil production. Read full article here
