Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 20% Off Deal for 2026 FIFA World Cup
Amtrak Pacific Surfliner is offering 20% off fares to Los Angeles from May 1–July 15 for FIFA World Cup matches at SoFi Stadium this summer.
Burbank residents planning to catch a World Cup match at SoFi Stadium this summer have a new reason to leave the car at home. Amtrak Pacific Surfliner and the Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board announced a partnership Monday that knocks 20% off train fares for travel to and from Los Angeles between May 1 and July 15, covering the full run of FIFA World Cup matches in the region.
The discount applies to all Pacific Surfliner fares and can be booked directly through the Pacific Surfliner website. Travelers request a promo code online using their email address. The window opens May 1, giving fans headed to early Group Stage matches enough lead time to plan ahead.
For Burbank, the connection is direct. Pacific Surfliner stops at the Downtown Burbank station on North Front Street, putting riders on the corridor without a drive to a major hub. From there, the train runs south through Glendale and into Los Angeles Union Station, where Metro’s World Cup shuttle service and other local transit options connect to SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.
Los Angeles will host eight matches at SoFi Stadium across June and July. The schedule opens June 12 with the U.S. Men’s National Team facing Paraguay in their group stage opener, a match that will likely move significant numbers of fans through the regional rail system. Additional matches run through July 10, when SoFi hosts a quarterfinal.
Pacific Surfliner’s route covers 351 miles of Southern California coastline, running from San Diego north through Orange, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. The line is managed by the LOSSAN Rail Corridor Agency and currently operates 13 daily roundtrips between San Diego and Los Angeles. Earlier this year the service added a daily roundtrip on that segment, bringing more scheduling flexibility for fans coming up from San Diego County or Orange County cities like Anaheim, Fullerton and Irvine.
The train-to-stadium math is straightforward. SoFi Stadium parking runs upward of $100 per vehicle on major event days, and the 405 corridor on game days earns its reputation. A discounted Pacific Surfliner fare plus a Metro connection costs considerably less, in money and time.
LA Tourism will also host Fan Zone events at Union Station from June 25 through June 28, which happen to bracket two matches during that stretch of the schedule. That puts Pacific Surfliner riders in a useful position: arrive at Union Station, catch the Fan Zone activation, then connect to the stadium or spend time in the city before or after the match.
For Burbank specifically, the Downtown Burbank station offers one of the cleaner commuter setups in the Valley. Parking near the station is manageable compared to trying to stage a stadium trip from the westside. Residents in the Rancho and Magnolia Park areas can reach the station quickly, making the train option genuinely practical rather than aspirational.
The partnership also covers travel before and after the matches themselves. The May 1 start date means the discount applies to any LA-bound trip during late spring, not just game days, useful for fans who want to build a longer trip around the World Cup or catch any of the city’s pre-tournament activity.
Pacific Surfliner runs two full corridor trips daily between San Diego and San Luis Obispo and five roundtrips between San Diego and Goleta, giving riders up and down the coast the same discount access.
LOSSAN and LA Tourism officials framed the partnership around reducing the friction of getting into Los Angeles during a period when the city will be managing stadium traffic, international visitors and the operational load of hosting a major global tournament. For SoCal residents, the calculus is simpler. Train fares at 20% off, no parking, no traffic, and a walk to Metro at the end of the ride.
Discount codes can be requested at the Pacific Surfliner website. The 20% discount applies to travel through July 15.
